美國當局表示，一名車上載有武器和製造炸彈材料的男子12日被捕，他告訴警方他想要「傷害」洛杉磯的同志驕傲(Gay Pride)遊行。

警方說，20歲的郝威爾(James Howell)是在洛杉磯近郊的聖塔蒙尼加(Santa Monica)附近被捕，當時他的車上有多樣武器、彈藥、以及製造炸彈的材料。這輛汽車是掛著印地安納州的車牌。

郝威爾被捕距離奧蘭多同志夜店12日凌晨發生槍擊案，只有數小時而已。佛羅里達州奧蘭多市的同志酒吧槍擊案，造成50人死亡、53人受傷，是歷來美國重大槍擊案中死傷最慘重的一次。

聖塔蒙尼加警察局長席布魯克斯(Jacqueline Seabrooks)在推特上表示，郝威爾告訴警方「他想對同志驕傲遊行造成傷害」。他指的是12日在好萊塢舉行的洛杉磯同志驕傲遊行活動。

聖塔蒙尼加警方是在居民報案說，有人清晨5點左右在他們住處前徘徊、還敲門之後前往調查，結果發現郝威爾坐在滿是武器的車上。

席布魯克斯說，郝威爾和奧蘭多槍擊案之間並未有已知的關連。

洛杉磯同志驕傲遊行的主辦單位表示，他們曾考慮要取消活動，但後來決定要按照計畫進行。而警方則對這場遊行活動保持高度警戒，包括在人群中部署便衣警察。
